Sweeter Than Maple Syrup
What could be sweeter than maple syrup? Not much, I suppose, but there is one thing I am sure of that is far sweeter than anything you or I could place upon our taste buds. And that is the assurance of where one will spend eternity when the last leaf has fallen from our tree of life. Remember, 10 out of 10 people die. Now you may not want to talk or think about such things, but follow me for a moment. And please, be willing to really think about these things.
Now some of you may be thinking “what makes your belief better than mine?” To that I have to ask, “Have you sincerely weighed the evidence before you?” You see, Biblical Christianity doesn’t involve blind faith. As a science teacher well versed in scientific facts, theory and methodology, I must say that with every bit more of information I examine, the truth within the Bible becomes more and more evident.
Others may be thinking “I’m a Christian – I believe Jesus died for my sins and I’ve asked for forgiveness.” To that, I have to ask “Do you really believe that?, because sincere belief creates action.” Have you really turned from your sins? The Bible tells us that the true children of God (those bound for heaven) will live a life increasingly defined by the characteristics of Jesus. Perfect, no, but we should become more and more like Christ. Does your life meet the repentance requirement?
Just so you know, we are not affiliated with any denomination or organized religious group that wants your membership or money. We do attend a sound, Bible-teaching church in Perryville, and would love for you to join us. However, our primary desire is to tell others about the true God so they may choose to spend eternity in heaven rather than hell. If you have any questions about God, the Bible, or even maple syrup, we would love to talk with you. Feel free to email us at [email protected] or call 573-833-6384.

- We don’t get to decide what is true or real based upon our feelings or desires.
- Laws of Physics – matter and energy (nature) CANNOT create themselves; however, they exist, and therefore REQUIRE a CREATOR (God) outside of the natural world (creation).
- Lots of differing ideas about God out there, but they can’t all be true. Why? Law of non-contradiction. Think about it. God exists or he doesn’t. The God of the Bible is the true God or he isn’t. Can’t have it both ways just so we can all feel good about being inclusive.
- Let’s take a look at the Bible – what makes it unique? It contains 66 books recorded by over 40 authors over 1500 years, with a common theme, ZERO historical or scientific errors or contradictions, and HUNDREDS of fulfilled prophesies. It also is the only major religious book that claims to be the Word of God. No such argument can be made for any other religious book.
- We’ve all sinned, or broken God’s 10 commandments, and the penalty for sin is an eternity in hell (which by the way, is not a party with the devil). (Romans 3:23, 6:23)
- No amount of good deeds will earn an eternity in heaven. Nowhere does the Bible indicate that we can earn heaven through prayers, sacraments like baptism or communion, or any other means. Just as a patrolman who clocked you going 100 mph in a school zone won’t let you off the hook for all the previous times you obeyed the limit, God doesn’t weigh out your good and bad deeds to determine your entrance into heaven. God’s standard is perfection. (Romans 3:20, Ephesians 2:8,9)
- Now the good news. God took on the form of man in the person of Jesus. Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t, yet was willing to die a cruel death, crucified on a cross as payment for the sins you and I committed. And then he overcame death by rising back to life. (John 3:16-18, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4)
- So what must we do to be saved from hell? (Romans 10:9,10)
- Believe that Jesus’ death was sufficient payment for your sin.
- Pray (talk to God) indicating you believe that the death of Jesus was sufficient payment, & ask him to forgive you of your sins. (Romans 10:13)
- Repent, or turn from, sinful behavior. A lot of folks, especially in the ‘Bible Belt,’ would say they believe and that they have asked for forgiveness. Yet they continue to live a life characterized by sinful behavior. The Bible teaches that true faith and repentance go hand in hand. (Acts 3:19, Mark 1:15, Luke 13:3, 15:7).
